The Importance of Core Beliefs
Core beliefs are the building blocks of the life we are living.  They are the very source of:

  • How we view ourselves
  • How we view the world around us

They are the root of our peace and well-being (positive beliefs) and our suffering (negative beliefs). 

Some examples of negative core beliefs are:
  • I am not good enough
  • I do not deserve.... love....good things
  • I deserve only bad things
  • I am a disappointment
  • I am not worthy
  • I do not belong
  • I am insignificant / unimportant
  • I cannot stand up for myself
  • I am not in control
  • I have to be perfect (please everyone)
  • I am weak

Some examples of positive core beliefs are:
  • I am good enough
  • I am deserving
  • I deserve good things
  • I am worthwhile
  • I am okay just the way I am
  • I am significant / important
  • I am in control
  • I am strong

We are what we believe.  We are what we think.

Positve beliefs help us to move forwards and onwards, to blossom and grow. 

Negative beliefs hold us back as they are the ones that sabotage us.

How core beliefs are formed
Core beliefs are mostly subconscious.  They are the result of past experiences and most of them develop over time.  And once we have these beliefs and we gather more evidence of their accuracy so they become a self fulfilling prophecy which gives the belief credence that therefore it must be true.  We tend to only notice information and evidence that supports the beliefs and ignore and reject information and evidence that contradicts them as they do not fit the belief.  As we think of these beliefs often, through the repetition in our mind, those beliefs slip into subconscious mind and we carry out the behaviour and emotions of those beliefs automatically without even thinking about it.

​Negative beliefs pay havoc with your physical and mental well-being, and sabotage your potential and development of self. If you hold a negative belief, such as "I am not in control", you will subconsciously create the action needed to be congruent with the belief.  Hence a lot of negative beliefs do us a dis-service and hold us back from our potential.

If you have positive beliefs, thoughts and emotions, you have the confidence and drive to achieve whatever you set your mind to.  Also your body will have better physical health. 

The emotions generated by beliefs
The emotions generally experienced in a positive mindset are variations of:
  • Optimism
  • Hopefulness
  • Contentment
  • Positive Expectation
  • Enthusiasm, Eagerness
  • Happiness
  • Passion
  • Joy, Appreciation
  • Empowerment
If you have negative beliefs, thoughts and emotions, you create for yourself a lack of self-esteem and anxieties.  The negative emotions are the emotions that cause the disruption to your body’s energy system.

  • Pessimism
  • Frustration
  • Overwhelm
  • Disappointment
  • Doubt, Worry
  • Discouragement, Let Down
  • Rejection, Lonely
  • Insecurity - Unworthiness
  • Anxiety, Nervousness
  • Fear
  • Dispair
  • A Sense of Powerlessness at times

Whether you have negative or positive beliefs, thoughts and emotions, those feelings determine your emotional reactions and experiences in life.

How to resolve negative core beliefs
Often negative emotions become suppressed because you may want to protect yourself, so you hide your feelings and bottle them up.  Then at times, like a pressure cooker, the emotions are released to relieve the inner tensions.  However, here's the problem. By releasing the emotion, those feelings do not leave.  Those feelings remain buried alive and never die unless they are resolved.
EFT is a process where the negative emotions, beliefs and thoughts are dealt with in a way where they are eradicated, allowing the positive belief to come through, leaving you with a sense of peace and well-being in mind, body and spirit. Having processed and eliminated the negativity, it leads to self-confidence, higher self-esteem and the ability to move forward again, allowing change and growth to happen, and importantly, allowing you the ability to deal with stresses in life and, instead of being knocked down by the hurdles of life, you bounce back and jump over the hurdles.
